e works of Guilmant, Widor, Rheinberger and modern composers of the French, German and English schools are used in the Artists Course. Pianoforte. The course of study includes the different branches of notation, time, technic, analysis and expression. Pupils are required to pursue the most modern and approved system of technical training. The course consists of studies from Kohler, Gurlitt, Duvernoy, Loeschhorn, Czerny, Heller, Berens, Krause, Cramer, Kullak, Moscheles, Bach and others. Sonatas of Clementi, Dussek, Kuhlau, Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven are used. The advanced works of Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and modern composers are used in the Artists Course. Violin. The most artistic and correct methods and manners are taught, while careful attention is given to the handling and fingering of this instrument. Such works as the following are used in the Course: Etudes from de Beriot, Dancla, Mazas, Wohlfahrt, Kayser, Spohr, Alard, and Kreutzer and pieces by de Beriot, David, Rode, Vieux- 96

The art of singing is taught according to the most approved Italian methods. Special attention is given to breathing, tone placing, voice building, style and expression. Vocal exercises by Sieber, Concone, Spicker, Marchesi and Lamperti; songs by the best composers with selections from Opera and Oratorio are used. Pupils are prepared for parlor, concert and church singing, and experience is gained by frequent opportunities afforded for public performance. Graduates in vocal must have at least one term of pianoforte instruction. Ensemble Singing. Classes in Elementary and Advanced Sight Singing are under the instruction of the vocal teacher. The course is graded and credits for the work are given in the Normal course. The classes meet twice a week and Damroschs Popular Method of Sight Singing is used.
