GRAND PARADE Leger of 1861, by Touchstone, another of the greatestnames in Turf history, who won the Leger of 1834and sired a number of great winners, classic onesamong them including Cotherstone, Flatcatcher,Nunykirk, Lord of the Isles, Mendicant, Blue Bonnetand Surplice. Also Orlando, who was credited withthe Derby of 1844 after what is perhaps the mostsensational episode in the history of the Blue Ribbon.Orlando was beaten by a horse falsely described asRunning Rain who was subsequently proved to be afour-year-old called Maccabaeus, a name afterwardschanged to Zanoni. Grand Marnier, the property of Lord Hamilton ofDalzell, came out for the Lincoln Plate of 1902 oneof eleven starters. Something was hoped of her, forMorny Cannon was engaged to ride and she wasbacked at 100 to 15, Captain Machells Lady Helpstarting at the same price, whilst Mr. Leopold deRothschilds Cormac and Mr. S.
