Hewas born 12th Sept., 1615 ; died 9th Feb., 1692, aged77 years 5 months wanting 3 dayes ; and by his owndirection he was buried in this place amongst thepoor of his hospital—the witnesses of his piety,liberality, and humility.The fine estate of Kirkleatham was bought by Turners fatherand mother in 1623, and never belonged to Sir William, butpassed to his eldest brother, Sergeant Turner, and his heirs. Thefamily became extinct in 1810. In the mansion is a half-lengthportrait of the Lord Mayor in his robes.
