1475,3657 .4458 ,0645 ,1552 .21063627 .3^66 35 CURVES Curves were plotted showing the variation of current withtime 01 making v/eld, for various sizes of material, and for animpressed voltage of 110 and 220 volts. These curves are shov/non plates number 1 and numlDer 2. In every case the curves showthat the current decreased with increase of time, due to the factthat the heating of the material increased its resistance. The curves on plate number 3 show the variation of averagepower consumed in making the weld, with the cross-sectional areaof the material. The lower curve was plotted from data in Tahlenum.her 17, of specimens having low efficiencies, compiled fromaverage values in Tahles numher 2 to 9 inclusive. The uppercurve was plotted from data in Table number 17, of specimenshaving high efficiencies, taken from average values in Tablesnumber 10 to number 14 inclusive. A comparison of these curvesshov/s that more power was consumed in making welds of higherefficiency. lQiiiiiiiiiP
