ycompris les bordures, que quatre tableaux sur toile pour lecouvent de lAnnonciade de Meulan, payés 575 livres en 1686,et que quatre autres tableaux pour la nouvelle église desCapucines, payés i3o livres en 1689. Cest peu, et cependantlartiste toucha des sommes importantes pour travaux exé-cutés à Versailles à partir de 1680. Paillet en effet semble avoirété le véritable entrepreneur des ouvrages de peinture dans lagalerie des Glaces. Le Brun était en quelque sorte larchitectequi fournit les plans, les dessins, Paillet était lentrepreneurqui apporte sur place les matériaux, recrute les ouvriers,tient les comptes, et assure la bonne marche des travaux 1. Le 26 août 1702, Jérôme Vallet, fils de Guillaume, fut reçu académicien pouravoir « gravé un dessin fait par feu M. Paillet, recteur de lAcadémie, et qui repré-sente la colonne érigée à Constantinople, en lhonneur de lempereur Théodose »Vallet donna aussi le dessin de Paillet et deux épreuves de son travail.

En 1680, Paillet reçoit dun seul coup 9.087 livres 2 sols« pour ce quil a payé aux peintres qui ont travaillé à la grandegalerie du château », sans préjudice de 1.755 livres 9 sols« pour achat de couleurs et ustensiles nécessaires aux ou-vrages de peinture de la grande galerie ». En 1681, ces fourni-tures de toutes sortes sélèvent à la somme de 5.590 livrest9 sols, et lannée suivante, Paillet reçoit « pour payer lespeintres qui ont travaillé sous M. Le Brun du i5 novembre1681 au 21 novembre 1682..
