The fast mail trains on the Burlington have been making anumber of fast runs. April 23 train No. 15, west bound, ranfrom Chicago to Burlington, 205.8 miles, in 199 minutes, or atat the average rate, including stops, of 62 miles per hour. Theportion of the run from Clyde to Burlington, 197.3 miles, wasdone in 184 minutes, or at the rate of 64.33 miles per hour, in-cluding stops. These are not record breaking runs, but theyare very fast for regular service conditions. The east boundmail train on this road has been late but once since the begin-ning of this year, and the west bound schedule, which is fourhours shorter, has been accomplished every day but four. 186 AMERICAN ENGINEER AND RAILROAD JOURNAL.
