LESSON 26 FIRST MISSIONARY JOURNEY Let your religion be seen. Lamps do not talk, but they do shine. Alighthouse sounds no drum, it beats no gong; yet far over thewaters its friendly light is seen by the mariner. Soon after the special meetings mentioned in thelast chapter, Paul, Barnabas and John Mark startedon their mission, which is now known as Pauls firstmissionary tour. Leaving the famous city of Antioch, in Syria, theysailed down the river to Seleucia, a seaport town onAt Cyprus Mediterranean Sea. Here they took theboat on the open sea, and sailed southwest-ward to the island of Cyprus. Landing at Salamis, a port of Cyprus, the mission-aries began their labors at once, preaching the wordAt Salamis synagogue of the Jews. Here Barnabas was at home, and undoubtedly ex-perienced great joy in preaching the Gospel to his oldfriends and playmates.
