r parents, etc. The most gratify-ing features of the work have been the willingness of the studentsto consider the suggestions offered, their readiness to enter upon theinvestigations assigned, and above all their glowing interest in andfacile expression of their hopes and ambitions. In connection with the work in guidance, a placement bureau isconducted. This bureau seeks, in general, to find suitable employ-ment for three classes of students: those who desire work afterschool and on Saturdays, those who wish work during school vaca-tions, and those who, having completed their studies, desire perma-nent positions. The bureau keeps in touch with the business public,notes their needs, and supplies the proper applicant. Before placingthe student, the counselor, whenever it seems necessary, personallyinvestigates the working conditions. To promote cooperation among the students working afterschool, the Working Boys Club was organized. The avowed pur-pose of the club is to promote the best interests of its members, theemployers, and the school by better mutual understanding and co-operation. The membership numbers eighty-eight. Meetings areheld once a week during an assembly period, and once a month afterschool hours. Successful and public-spirited business men addressthe boys on the opportunities for young men entering the variouscommercial pursuits, the aim being to give the boys a broader out-look and a better understanding of the requirements of the busi-ness world. The school took an active part in the organization of a branchof the United States Boys Working Reserve. During the summerof 1918, 155 boys of the school were employed in agricultural andindustrial pursuits that the government had designated as in need
