Notes
  • Significance: The Potting Building, along with an adjoining greenhouse, was constructed ca. 1880 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, to supply the demand for vegetation for the Arlington Cemetery grounds. Rectangular in plan, the 2-story, hipped-roof building was built of brick masonry construction, with wood framing supporting the slate roof. The greenhouse was demolished in 1934. The first floor of the Potting Building was converted to a museum space in the mid-1950s, with the second floor used for storage...
