Considering the venerable character of the comx^any seated at the table—so much■of it, at least, as we can see through the open door-way—we are not surprised that this young■couple should have slipped away for a quiet chat in the ante-room, where, seated on an oldcarved settee by the side of his lady, the young gentleman has preluded his love-maldng byan air or two strummed upon his lute.
