I am notallowed to go up a stair even ; and the other day (threeweeks ago indeed) I tried to walk the very short way tothe garden, and that night suffered one of the breathlessattacks so painful and which throw me back. The resultis my medico gives it as his opinion that I cant beallowed to travel, so here I remain, an idle man trying tofill up my time by writing a little, drawing or painting alittle, reading a little, and being read to a great deal.Sometimes a friend comes for a few days ; the last wasVernon Lushington, so long ago as in the beginning ofthe year.
