Title
Awl
Description
English: A long bronze tracer/awl, measuring 86mm in length, and 8mm in width at its widest point. The tracer (or handle tang) end of this awl has a rectangular section with a quite sharp slightly damaged end, when viewed from the side longitudinally it is bent into a very slight 'S' shape. It measures 40mm in length and 5.7mm in width. The tracer end joins the awl end with abrupt step onto the octangonal shaft which tapers towards its tip, which is abraded and somewhat rounded. The awl end measures 46mm in length and 8mm in width at its widest point. The surface condition is mainly poor with only small areas of the original surface patinated dark brown, surviving. The rest of the surface is pale green due to corrosion products.

This awl is possibly Bronze Age, though atypical and could possibly be Roman otherwise.
