u TEAMWORK AT ANDERSON, INDIANA dear to the reader who is not familiar with the details of thetelephone business, if a brief description is here given of thetelephone cable plant in a city of the size of Anderson. Plant Records Destroyed One of the dominating features of a central office is the maindistributing frame. It is the meeting point for the wires fromthe outside plant, which radiate to the homes and offices of thesubscribers, with the wires leading to the switchboard. On oneside of the main frame, the wires leading to the switchboard arepermanently soldered to numbered terminals corresponding to the numbers of the switchboard, which are the numbers as-signed to the subscribers and published in the telephone direc-tory. On the other side of the main frame, the pairs of wireswhich enter the office in cables, stretching out to all points inthe city, are soldered to terminals bearing permanent numbers,called the cable-pair numbers.
