Title
Brooch
Description
English: Copper alloy brooch, Langton Down type, squared bow variant similar to King Harry Lane Ee Stead and Rigby 1989,92, E24). Missing half spring, pin, damaged spring cover, missing catchplate; Fairly corroded. The spring cover has a single transverse incised line above the bow junction. The bow is a flat strip, meeting the bow with a squared junction. The bow has a narrow longitudinal rib close to each edge; the central are is very slightly convex. The catchplate scar is dicontinuous, suggesting that it was pierced. Length 40mm, width 12mm. Very similar to Hattatt (1987) no.773 - that one has punched dot decoration along the centre bow which might not survive on the abraded surface of the present eg.
