rom symbolismit is of exquisite quality as regards texture and design. Another veil lent by Mrs, Frederic B. Pratt was ofBrussels point a Vaiguille, the most filmy and delicate of allpoint lace. The elaborate and effective floral design is madeon the finest ground or mesh. Of the same lace there wasa particularly handsome flounce of skirt length, and severalcollars, lappets, handkerchiefs and bands, all of the finestand most .exquisite workmanship. Brussels point a Iaigiiille,or point de gaze, has in recent years been brought to thehighest perfection and the specimens in the Paris Interna-tional Expositions since 1867 which are typical, are remark-able for the precision of the work, the variety and richnessof the fillings and the clearness of the ground. France is a lace-making as well as a lace-wearing coun-try.
