Cette découverte in- dique l'âge quaternaire campinien de la glaise 5 et aussi du sable 3' et du gravier avec lequel elle est en continuité, ainsi que des zones 3, 5' et 3" de la figure i. Au-dessus de la glaise vient un cailloutis im- portant de silex roulés et anguleux, fragments de phtanite, roches à Chara, etc., surmonté d'un sa- ble 2 formé de lits plus ou moins argileux, stra- tifié en minces lits, égale- ment inclinés vers l'Est; les lits les plus sableux sont glauconifères. Cette zone devient assez forte- ment argileuse dans sa partie supérieure, près de l'extrémité de la coupe; la base, au contraire, est entièrement sableuse et à stratification entre - croisée. Cette zone cor- respond à la zone ^ de la coupe Nord-Sud. L'ensemble de la cou- pe est couronné par une épaisseur de 0â¢,30 à 1 mètre de sable mobile ^, gris ou noir, tout à fait
