The cupola is 107 ft. high above thebin walls and 220 ft. above the base ofrail. This means that there are veryfew, if any, higher reinforced concretebuildings in existence. Above the stor-age addition, the cupola is but twostories high, as the only machineryabove those bins is the conveyors andspouts for filling the bins.Marine Tower. A marine tower for unloading boats in order that two vessels may be unload-ed simultaneously, one lying along eachside of the jetty. The tower is 340 ft.from the elevator. It is built of struc-tural steel, this material being adoptedinstead of concrete because it is expect-ed that, in the event of the GeorgianBay Canal being built and 600-ft. ves-sels being brought to Montreal for un-loading, it may be desired to extend thejetty farther and move the tower to 10 CANADIAN MACHINERY Volume IX
