nAdye, K.C.B. The march past was inaugurated atfour in the afternoon, when a splendidbattery of the Royal Horse Artillery,led by Colonel G. W. Borrowdaile, C.B.(late of the Bombay army), went clatter-ing past, their wheels revolving as if allwere on one axle. These were the gunsthat struck terror on the Egyptians atMahsameh, that silenced their sevenKrupps, and opened the way for thecharge in the dark at Kassassin. To the old Scottish Jacobite air, Weel may the keel row,* the 2ndBrigade of Cavalry trotted past, andthen came the three squadrons of theLife Guards in sections of fours, led byDrury Lowe ; the 4th and 7th DragoonGuards, and lastly, the smartest regi-ment on the ground, the 13th Hussars. The Mounted Infantry followed, eachman with the butt of his rifle plantedon his right thigh, the weapon muzzleupward. They were all in their fight-ing kits, and about sixty in number. The Heavy Field Artillery broughtup the rear of this division, which,according to the Times, consisted alto-gether of 4,320 horses, with sixty piecesof cannon. The lively Scottish reels which thebands had been playing as trotting airsfor the Cavalry now changed time as theNaval Brigade under Captain Fitzroyand the men of Fishers Ironclad Traininder Commander Henderson came up,their steady tramp eliciting the firstcheer that had yet been accorded.
