ill lay the best foundation for this noble profession.When the mind has been well drilled and developed byconsecutive application, the technical part of a teacherseducation may readily be acquired. This, however, is not wholly overlooked. In thelast two years of this course all students are required toteach one hour daily under the supervision of thePresident. Terms of Admission. The time occupied by this course represents five yearsof work above the eighth grade of the Public Schools ofthe State. Before entering upon it, students must showproficiency in the following branches: Orthography, Reading, Writing, Geography, (Mon-teiths Independent Course, Elementary), Composition,Arithmetic, Grammar. Students having already completed any studies in thiscourse, or preparatory to it, in the Public School, or anyother institution, and bringing grades for the same, willbe credited accordingly. Those who have finished theninth grade will be admitted to the second year; thetenth, the third year.

ALBANY COIXEGE 37 A State Diploma. Students who graduate from this course, or from theClassical or Latin Scientific course, are, under theSchool Law, admitted to the examinations for StateDiplomas. This will entitle them to teach anywhere inthe State. Our Normal graduates are giving eminentsatisfaction wherever they go, and are filling manyplaces of honor and preferment in the State. The College Preparatory Department. This Department is arranged with special reference tofitting students for successful entrance upon the coursesof study as set forth in the College curriculum. It pro-vides for three years of careful drill in those branchesthat ought to be completed before entering College; andin Mathematics and Classics, it furnishes such prepara-tion as will enable the student to pursue with pleasureand profit the more advanced work of the College. It will be noticed that this Department offers threecourses, the Classical, the Latin-Scientific, and theEnglish; each course being adapted
