The convictions of non-Catholic students are respected,and no effort is made to obtrude Catholic doctrines on them.Discipline, however, requires that they be present, andbehave with due reverence at all public religious services. For the better maintenance of discipline and the prog-ress of the student, parents are requested not to seek anyexemptions for their sons from the ordinary College rules.They must not visit them during the hours of class or study,nor seek a leave of absence for them, except for the mosturgent reasons. If the Diligence and Deportment marks are satisfac-tory—i. e., 90 or above—students whose parents reside inthe city are allowed to spend the first and third Sundaysof each month at home. Students are forbidden to leave the College groundswithout permission. The College authorities reserve to themselves the dis-cretionary power of supervising the correspondence ofstudents.

COLLEGE OF THE SACRED HEART PHYSICAL TRAINING. While holding athletics to be of secondary importancein every educational establishment, the authorities are wellaware of their influence for good, when rightly directed andunder proper control. Hence they have spared no expensein providing the students with ample facilities for athleticwork. Besides tennis courts and hand-ball alleys, the Col-lege possesses one of the finest parks in the state, for foot-ball, baseball and track work. The park is enclosed andprovided with a good-sized grandstand. The supreme direction of athletics is entrusted to amember of the Faculty, and care is taken that neither thehealth nor the studies of the students suffer any detriment. SESSION. The academic year consists of one session of tenmonths, beginning on the second Tuesday of Septmeber,and closing in the third week of June.
