  • Significance: This house was the last home and studio of Jasper Francis Cropsey (1823-1900), a prominent Hudson River School painter and an architect. It contains many of his paintings, furnishings bought or designed by him, and additions and alterations of his design. The original board-and-batten Gothic cottage was built after 1835 by William Saunders who ran a wheelwright mill in the ravine. By tradition, bedroom (112) wing served as his office...
