Notes
  • Significance: The Davis and Kimpton Brickyard is a unique and well-preserved example of a brick manufacturing plant and associated technology which was revolutionizing regional industrial patterns at the turn of the twentieth century. The brickyard furthermore is directly related to the development of Newport News during an historically important period of rapid growth which necessitated the establishment of manufacturing facilities to supply the increased demand for construction materials. The evaluation of the Davis and Kimpton Brickyard against the criteria of the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) indicates that the property is significant for its role in state and local historical trends.
