lery.The centre picture represents the Conversion ofSt. Maurice by St. Erasmus, and the wings con-tain the figures of St. Lazarus, St. Mary Magdalene,St. Martha, St Chrysostom, and St. Valentinian.There is another work in the church of OurLady at Halle, of which the centre picture, repre-senting the Virgin in Glory, the iimer sides, andperhaps the outer sides, are assigned to Griinewald.A Rosary in the chapel of St Anthony in thecathedral of Bamberg, and the wings of altar-piecesat Heilsbronn in Franconia, and at Annaberg inSaxony, are also assigned to this master. GRUSS, JoHANN, an historical painter, born earlyin the 19th century, was a native of Bohemia.Among his works are a Virgin and Child, a Sleeping Jesus, and St Aloysius. He died atVienna in 1872.
