Elkington, of Birmingham,England, we have selected for illustration on page 480 a group of ArtisticMetal-Work, consisting of an Iron Tazza, with silver and copper enrichments;a large Flower Dish with water channels between raised ornamented zones;and a Silver Tazza, in repousse-work, named from the subject the Impruden-tia. central figure of the group,the Flower-Dish, is charm-ingly ornamented around theouter rim with medallionfigure-subjects symbolical ofthe months. Nothing couldbe more graceful and spiritedthan the poses of the femalefigures, nor more happilyconceived than the manner inwhich the zodiacal signs areintroduced, and the subjectin its entirety treated. Thesemedallions illustrate the firstsix months of the year—Julyand the remaining- monthsbeing figured in a like manneron the other plaque whichmatches the one shown inour illustration.
