Anne Warren Weston found David Lee Child's letter very much better than she had expected, and consequently thought that she could vote for his appointment. He was unanimously appointed. It was voted that the resolution about Mrs. Lydia Maria Child should be published in the National Anti-Slavery Standard. A letter from Wendell Phillips to Mrs. Child "ends by alluding to her saying that she is going to leave the A.S. [anti-slavery] cause," and predicts that "in the face of your conscience, heart & principles you dare not do it, and would not if you dare."
