  • Significance: This was the first building erected at the Base. Originally a semi-autonomous marine installation in cooperation with the naval base, then as marine detachment gradually decreased in size as navy/army increase, converted to contract worker quarters until the withdrawal of civilians in 1942 when it returned to its original use.
