(2) LAKE GEORGE FROM BOLTON Height, 20 inches; width, 30 inches A spacious landscape, full of color and with a very-real feeling of the atmosphere of a sunny day whenthe clear sky is liberally besprinkled with light clouds.The narrow foreground shows a green, grass^grownclearing, with occasional spots of red and yellow, andon the right the brown trunks of some dead and fallentrees. Bordering the clearing a line of thick woods ofrich green foliage extends across the pid:ure on an in^cline sloping toward the middle di^ance, where roll*ing fields of yellowishsgreen verdure and rich qualityspread out in the late afternoon sunshine. Beyond thefields is seen the soft, smooth surface of the beautifulHoricon, overspreading a large proportion of theample pidture, and reflecting in deHcate tones the nuesof the clear blue sky and its creamysyellow andslightly mauve=tinted clouds.
