similarland, bleak under the sweep of the winds and reveal;ing a few bunted trees or low bushes, comes into thepidlure to help form the pocket where the shallowwaters lie imprisoned—the shore between the necks,in the foreground, being of lower land, for the mo^part barren but sustaining sparse herbage and someshort bushes. The herbage is a brownishsgreen, andthe land about wears similar colors, here vergingmore upon the green, there pronouncedly of a velvetybrown, and yonder again of a pla^ic gray. The waterof the silveryswhite shallows is tinged with faintedpink and a pale yellow, as it reflects some of the my;riad notes in the Grange, effulgent sky. Low over theindigo sea is a cloud band of slate hue, above whichcirro;^ratus clouds take tints of pearl;gray, salmon,lavendersrose, moss^green, and a vague variety of in;termediate tones.
