English: Fish market, Newlyn, Cornwall

This photograph shows fishermen in Newlyn, just south of Penzance. Their main catch was mackerel, pilchards and herring. In this photograph, locals and holiday makers are mingling at the town’s fish market. The woman at the front carries a traditional fish basket on her back, which is supported by a band around the top of her head.
