Notes
  • Significance: The school, which overlooks the Pedernales River, lies approximately one mile east of the LBJ Ranch. Built in 1910, it is a one-story, frame structure. LBJ attended Junction School in 1912-1913, at the age of four. After becoming President, he rallied the support of his administration behind the landmark Federal Aid to Education Bill and secured it's passage. To signify the importance of education to the nation and to underscore its role in his career, President Johnson returned to the Junction School on April 11, 1965, to sign this legislation into law. This the Junction School holds a place in both real and symbolic in the life of the 36th President.
