by Monod in 1853. The National Monument is situated on the south bank of the lake on the left of the Pont du Montblanc. It consists of a bronze group of Helvetia and Geneva, by Dorer, in commemoration of the union of Geneva with the Confederation, in the year 1814. Near here is the Jardin Anglais with restaurant. The centre of the garden is adorned by a fountain and some bronze busts. In the pavilion there is a Relief of Montblanc, showing the relative heights of the mountains. The fee for admission is 50 c. On the north of the Jardin Anglais, on the lake, is the Quai des Eaux-Vives, which is planted with trees. The Salle de la Reformation, near the Quai, contains a concert room; the Calvinium with memorials of Calvin, & c. and a model of Jerusalem. To the right, in the Promenade de St. Antoine, is the College de St. Antoine, established by Calvin, 1559. The Observatory is on the left. On an eminence, farther on, is the Russian Church.
