Notes
  • Significance: The machine shop derives its historical significance from association with Wendover Air Force Base, Established in 1940, the base served as an ideal training ground for heavy bombing and gunnery practices until its abandonment in 1963. Colonel Paul W. Tibbets Jr., pilot of the B-29 "Enola Gay" which dropped the Atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and his 509th Command Group trained at the base.
