IDAHO=THE GEM OF THE MOUNTAINS. ADA COUNTY. This county was created and organized at the second session of tlie IdahoTerritorial Legislature, in the month of December, 1S64, while the state capitalof the joung territory was yet at Lewiston, in Nez Perce County, where ithad been temporarily located by the act of Congress organizing the Territoryof Idaho. At the time of the creation of the then new county, the great areaincluded within its boundaries was a portion of the large county of Boise,which at that time included the entire region now covered by the counties ofBoise, Washington, Canyon and Ada. The successive divisions of this originallarge area and the creation of new counties at regular intervals during a shortseries of years show in a striking light the rapid increase in population andthe no less rapid development of the natural resources of the country of whichit formed a part.
