F ANTOINE LOl IS BARYE TIGER RECLINING Water-Color Kiplings villian (in the account of MowgKs adventures in thejungle) lies at rest, contented with the results of the last forayon the herds of the Bengalese farmers. The royal tiger has nosmile on its face, although it may have incriminating evidenceinside its beautifully variegated hide. Barve was a colorist inwater-colors and oils, as he was in his bronzes, the patinas ofwhich are singularly varied and handsome, as one may observein any large collection of his figurines, like those at theCorcoran in Washington or the Walters Gallery in Baltimore.
