assi la composizione quattrocentisticadi Onofrio, la sala dei Caracci e le ricche sale dell apparta-mento reale nella già libreria del convento, il salone del dor-mitorio co suoi bracci secondari e qua e là alcuni locali che,attraverso le successive superfetazioni, conservarono loriginaleloro struttura. E tuttociò è ben poco, se pensiamo alla gran-dissima produzione artistica cui il convento dette luogo perquattro secoli e al valore di tanti artisti che vi lavorarono :da Bernardino da Milano al Formigine, da Onofrio da Fabrianoai Caracci. Al visitatore dellantico convento che pensasse con ram-marico che in quellambiente eminentemente moderno, in cui siagita una lotta tra la natura ribelle e la scienza, quei pochiavanzi artistici sono insufficienti a far rivivere leco delle gloriepassate, potrà risollevarsi lanimo leggendo le parole dettatedal filantropo e da scolpirsi sulla porta principale: « pel pro-gresso della scienza, il decoro della patria, il bene dell uma-nità ». Fine.
