It is not strange that nearly every Italianin America is a fruit dealer. Born and rearedamong these gardens of fruit it becomes his natureto be a vender thereof. He is qualified for nothingelse as a rule, so he stands upon the street cornersand cries the sale of his fruit. Those who aremechanics and architects do not immigrate as theydo well here, the rich of course stay in their nativecountry to enjoy their means, and as a rule thefruit dealers and the common laborers seek newfields for their avocations.
