Van Buren served as the State Senator, U.S. Senator, U.S. Secretary of State, Ambassador to the Court of St. James, Vice President, and 8th President of the U.S. In 1839, looking back over his long political career to his beginnings in Kinderhook, Van Buren purchased Lindenwald, the mansion office once owned by his boyhood friend William Van Ness...
