Soften the surface withwhich the impression of the root is tobe taken by passing it once or twicerapidly over a Bunsen or alcohol flameand mold it with the fingers to the sur-face of the root, pressing it hard intoplace. If this does not give a sufficientlysharp impression—and it usually doesif lac is employed—then remove, chillthoroughly, and replace with a thinnishcoating of inlay wax over the surface;place once more on the root, and forcehard home. Cast the impression withquick-setting cement or plaster, and fita band to it. but do not unite the endstill it has been fine-fitted to the root.
