By the amendment to the Sundry Civil Appropriation Bill,passed by the 59th Congress, the sum of $200,000 was appropriatedto defray the expense of collecting, installing and maintaining Govern-ment exhibits by the Library of Congress, Smithsonian Institution andthe National Museum, the Treasury, Interior, Post-Office, War andNavy Departments, Life Saving Service, Revenue Cutter Service,the Army, the Navy, the Lighthouse Service, the Bureau of Fisheriesand an exhibit from Porto Rico. For establishing and maintaining an exhibit of the UnitedStates Life Saving Service and to erect a Fisheries Building, also tobuild a club-house as a rendezvous for soldiers and sailors, the sumof $350,000 was appropriated.
