From thisvantage point one could gaze down upon the scene below. Thesecond story was devoted to suites of twelve bed-chambers, withbath. The furnishings were homelike in their appointment, andanybody favored by an invitation thoroughly enjoyed the honor ofbeing a guest in this beautiful State building. Electric fans, maidsand pages furnished conveniences, and best of all, the genial hostess,Mrs. Nelson H. Henry, was ideal in her social capacity, so that everyState function was as properly carried out in every detail of appoint-ment and the proper social requirements as a banquet in the WhiteHouse or an exclusive metropolitan home would be. Nothing butcommendation was heard regarding the style of the building and itssocial conduct. These features made a lasting impression uponevery visitor to the Exposition.

It was the intention of the Jamestown Exposition to make adisplay of this nature which should be unique, making all otherfeatures there might be subordiante to this idea. The plan eventuallymet with success of the fullest measure. Never before this had individuals yielded their most preciousfamily treasure to be so far removed from home as they did on thisoccasion.
