A memorial tree was planted and ceremoniesheld; but the great result was the dissemination of information toevery State regarding the Exposition and its historic significance.The Board of Directors sought to place just these facts before eachState and consequently inaugurated a publicity campaign. North Carolina appropriated $50,000 on the day of adjournmentof its Legislature early in 1905; Missouri was visited on March 12thby General Lee and a staff of advocates who were all excellent speak-ers, and appropriated $55,000. On March 15th, Messrs. T. J. Wool and G. T. Shepperd visitedTrenton, the capital of New Jersey, and were successful in theintroduction of a bill appropriating $25,000 as that States share inthe general celebration. General Lee, with Messrs. Wool and Shepperd, then went toHarrisburg, the capital of Pennsylvania, and addressed a joint sessionof the Legislature, with the result that $100,
