The carsare built after the style of the Pullman palace cars.The seats have spring cushions, and are placed two bytwo in the centre of the car at each side of the passage-way; at the ends they are ranged longitudinally aroundthe car, thus affording ample space near the doors forthe ingress and egress of passengers. They make an average speed oftwelve miles an hour, including stoppages. All trainsare provided with air-brakes, and can be stopped in alittle more than their own length. The road is operatedby means of electric signals, and every precaution forsafety is taken.
