Description |
English: North landing, Flamborough Head, Yorkshire. This section of the North Yorkshire coastline, between Bridlington and Filey, has hardly changed since this photograph was taken. Flamborough Head and nearby Bempton have long been important nesting sites for seabirds such as kittiwakes, puffins and gannets. The boats pictured here are cobles, the characteristic fishing boats of the north-east. In the 19th century they could be found in nearly every Yorkshire coastal village. |
