Here eternal summer has hung herrosaries ; bright-hued, sun-fed flowerssend out their odors on the still nightair, filling all the space with delicateperfume, while the arch of heaven isaglow with countless stars. Under trees, reclining on the grass,or sitting on benches which line thewalks, are numerous listeners, whodrink in the melody with unalloyeddelight, breaking into hand-clappingwhen some favorite air is rendered.The interludes are filled with thehum of voices and the ripple oflaughter. Laughter and tears are the primalexpressions of humanity—universal, 50 ONE SUMMER IN HA WAIL significant, and eloquent. As I lookedand listened, I said : Is this romance or reality ?
