made, to be exported from Cape Town. We passedthrough several dense forests where the trees were so thickthat they shut out the sun and sky from the roadway. Whenwe would come out in the open space between the forests wecould see for miles over the country dotted with homes builtin Dutch style, surrounded with well trimmed evergreen hedgesand fields of grape vines.
