or Robert Middlemiss, at ^ the outbreak of the present war, was fa soldier by profession. He has served in the British army ever since he was 18 years old. his present age being 35. He had served in South Africa, Egypt I and India. In April, 1915, with his regiment, the Kings Own Scottish Bordc-rs, he was taken to Gallipoliwhere he was blinded by a handgren-ade during the first hour of action. He was taken back to England andwas placed in St. Dunstans. Helearned from Sir Arthur Pearson thati the American section of the B. F. B.permanent blind relief war fund de-sired the services of a blinded soldierto lecture throughout the UnitedStates. Sacrificing his personalplans Sergt. Minutes of Meeting of the Executive and Advisory Committeesand Vice-Presidents of the A. B. F. B. Permanent Blind Relief WarFund, held at the Office of Mr. Frank A. Vanderlip, President ofthe National City Bank, 55 Wall St., on Friday, March 2, at 4 p. m. The report presented by Mrs. Webster, the Honorary Secretary, a copy of which was handed toeach of those present, read as follows: Ladies and Gentlemen:Members of the B. F. B. Permanent Blind Relief War Fund: The last meeting of the Fund was held at the office of our Honorary Treasurer, Mr. F. A.Vanderlip, on January 3rd last, and full report has been published of such proceedings and sent toall officers and committees of the Fund. In accordance with the action taken at such meeting a draft for Seven Hundred and FiftyThousand francs was forwarded on January 16th last to M. Georges Pallain, Governor of the Bank ofFrance,—500,000 francs of said sum to start a permanent fund and 250,000 francs to be used by M.Eugene Brieux, President
