Come up to the camp and have sometea. Denman went to the camp and saw Nashs mate, who was illwith fever. Denman said he would send over a blackboy with someport wine and Peruvian bark. On leaving he said to Nash, Dontforget your promise to me if you see anything. Nash promisedthat he would report results at once. Next week Mr. Best came over to Denmans for the mail, andasked Denman if he had heard the news? What news?Why all Maryborough are up at Gympie getting gold in galore.Denman afterwards saw Nash, and ironically congratulated him onkeeping his promise so faithfully. Nash said he was so excited overthe discovery he forgot all about his promise, but would give Denmanhalf of the Government reward of £1000. Memory appears to havefaile
