* 35 BOILER HOUSE. -The boiler house lies to the south of the machineshop and to the west of the TIill Room. On page33 is shown thesketch of a plan of the boilers and piping. The battery con-sists of six Chandler and Tayler fire tube boilers, threeof which hear the date eighteen hundred and ninety eight.They were originally used in the old shops across the tracks.The other three boilers were installed in nineteen hundred andtwo, at which time the present plant was erected. The boilersare all of the horizontal return tubular pattern with a cyl-indrical shell whose diameter is seven feet nine inches, and alength of sixteen feet. Each boiler contains twelve three andthree cuarter inch flues, giving fourteen hundred square feetof heating surface per unit. The boilers are rated at onehundred and fifty horse power per boiler which gives ninehundred for the battery.
