Notes
  • Significance: The house in its original state was a good example of pre-Civil War Classical Revival residential architecture in the San Antonio area. With its later Neo-Classical additions it is representative of those structures that were updated in the latter part of the nineteenth century by contemporary decorative additions. This house is very significant, for it is one of the few buildings of its type dating before the Civil War that is to be found in San Antonio. Although little is known of Mitchell, the original owner, the building's historical significance is due to its later owner, Louis Oge, who was an early Texas Ranger, Indian fighter, U.S. mail contractor, rancher, and later a prominent San Antonio businessman.
  • Unprocessed Field note material exists for this structure: FN-178
