for worship, was built in1755 for Lutherans. Except for the steeple, added in 1760, it isjust as when built. It stands at the corner of Brunswick andGerrish Streets, and is a quaint and interesting place. Garrison Church was used for years as the chief officialplace of worship for the troops, but since the withdrawal of theImperial Army, the Canadian regiment worship in differentplaces—the Presbyterians in St. Matthews. The GarrisonChurch was built after the style of the military churches inEngland, and it is now occupied by the congregation of Trinitychurch. St. Georges or the Round Church (Church of England,)attracts visitors on account of its unusual shape. It is circularin form and was built in the early years of the last century atcorner of Brunswick and Cornwallis Streets. St. Marys Cathedrae (Roman Catholic) close to St. Mat-thews, is the seat of the Archbishop of Halifax. It has a hand-some facade and spire of white granite. The interior decora-tions are very beautiful. (26)

Things to See in Halifax. /^f HE Province Building is an excellent point at which toilL commence sightseeing. Together with its grounds, it^^ occupies a block bounded by Hollis and Granville, andGeorge and Prince Streets, the site of the GovernmentHouse of the early days. Its history dates back to 1819, when it was completed at acost of over 5200,000, considered an extravagantprice for any building inthose days. It is a build-ing of the Georgian typeof architecture, and pos-sesses a quiet and impos-ing dignity. This building on sev-eral occasions has beenPiovince Building. the scene of important state functions. Here the late King Edward VII wras given agrand ball on the occasion of his visit in 1860; and his son, thepresent ruler, received the people of Nova Scotia on the occa-sion of his visit in October, 1901.
